Does this feel familiar?
You have access to music from many different cultures around the world. Endless streams, playlists, archives. Music turned into background, culture into aesthetic. Everything available, nothing really experienced.
What’s missing is not more content. It’s context. It’s proximity. What’s missing is real experience and a sense of fulfillment when you share and get involved, rather than just consume.
So what now? Another “world music” label?
Is there a way to stop romanticizing and get involved? Is there a way you can support various music traditions from around the world without patronising them? Is there a way to experience culture directly—and feel it shift something in you?
Without access and trust, you stay on the outside.
That’s why we built a way in.
Not to present music cultures but to make it possible to step closer. To move from observing to taking part. This is not a rescue mission - trust us, we have things to exchange here. Let’s grow together.
About us
Since 2018 JuJu Sounds recorded and worked with nearly 50 groups from different regions of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We’ve released 5 compilation albums on LP, CD, and cassette—with more to come—along with video recordings and research-based educational materials. We’ve organised concerts, bringing recorded artists to Poland. We got immersed in and recorded various music-centred rituals in Sudan, Egypt, Réunion, and Peru. All this work has been done with respect and careful attention to avoid neocolonial pitfalls.
From sleeping by the road in Rajasthan with fakirs during a Sufi pilgrimage to Ajmer, through holding hands in a circle dance just before daybreak during zikr in Omdurman, to immersing ourselves in Afro-Caribbean rhythms during carnival in Santiago de Cuba—we’ve witnessed culture in its raw form, far from anything shaped as a tourist experience. Over time, we’ve built close, lasting relationships with people from different music cultures.
Now we invite you to join us and build something new and meaningful together. Experience, share and make a real impact by making cultural heritage thrive.
You can choose how deep you want to get.
Connect deeply with diverse music cultures, find your community, and make a real impact by helping cultural heritage thrive.
come inside
Wherever you choose to stand, you contribute to keeping music cultures alive and growing.
This is not another world music label, archive, or one-off curated spiritual escape. JuJu Sounds brings together deep context, physical releases, community experience, and direct ways to get involved. It’s a platform that lets you move from first contact to deeper experience, at your own pace.
If you’re tired of surface-level content, disappointed by tourist versions of authenticity, or feel like nicely packaged but empty aesthetics don’t move anything in you-you’ve just found people who feel the same.
Come join us on a path from observer to active amplifier.
Access
• field recordings with full context (not just sound, but people, place, situation)
• culture experienced in its natural setting, often moments not open to the public
Understanding vs consumption
• you see how music connects to ritual, community, and everyday life
• music stops being just sound—it becomes a living system
Community
• you get to know people, not just music — tradition bearers, not staged performers
• you don’t stand outside — you step into a space, connect with people who feel the same
A way to go deeper
• a clear path if you choose to take it: from observer → to participant → to amplifier
• start by listening and move toward meeting, contributing, travelling on your own terms, step into the role of curator / amplifier
Experiences
• real encounters that shift how you see things
• new perspectives that stay with you and keep working long after
Real impact
• your involvement goes beyond you — it feeds into ongoing, real-world projects
• there is always a pro bono project in motion — and you can help shape it
